My dear ones! Countdown is on. 8 days until Christmas. As if you do not already know that. I mean seriously. Did you all have a great weekend? Mine consisted of holiday parties, work, CL selling, gift wrapping, dodging the bubonic plague that all of my friends seem to have and a marathon session of Homeland. I must admit, I now know what all of the hype is about. Love it and I am only half way through the first season.
Today I am talking about something dramatic. Something that was once the norm, but is now considered edgy and daring. Matchy matchy prints. That's right. Matching your window treatments, to your wallcoverings, to your furniture, to your accessories. It is truly an art form when done correctly. It may be too much for some, but I think it adds just the right amount of drama and tradition to any space.

What do we think? Are we on board? Are you bold enough? Or is it too hot for TV? I will leave you with a little something this morning. Whoomp there it is. I have had that song in my head for going on 3 days now and I just feel the need to share the love with you all. I am certain you will thank me later. Love you. Mean it. XOXO
Usually I'm opposed to matchy-matchy but some of these options are absolutely gorgeous. I'm really lusting over that peachy/coral with the blue!
ReplyDeleteI love the matchy - matchy ... very traditional French design!! that bathroom with the large scale geometric print on the windows and walls, fantastic!! Whomp back at you!! xo
ReplyDeleteI'm not usually on board with matchy-matchy but these photos are most definitely making me reconsider!! xo
ReplyDeletelove this look!! I do....I love that its making a comeback. The gold legs in my stool were spray painted. The stool was black so I just put some painter's tape and primed and spray painted. xx
ReplyDeleteI love to look at but I have lived with it in a previous dining room and I just like to change it up too much. It is too much commitment for me.
ReplyDeleteI don't love this look too matchy matchy for my taste but I do dig the blue wallpeper in the bathroom- gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThis on is funny, because my best friend's mom did this throughout her home in the 80's. At the time, It was a bit strange, but now I really like it. I need to check out Homeland. What did you sell on CL?
ReplyDeleteWhat did I tell you about Homeland!!! Glad you jumped on the bandwagon! Not sure how I feel about the matchy matchy though. Jury is still out!
ReplyDeleteA lot of pattern, I normally like quiet feeling rooms but a few of these are really pretty.
ReplyDeleteI like the effect of a pattern running off the wall (vertical) onto something sitting in the room (horizontal) like a settee, sofa, or coverlet at the bottom of the bed ... creates an interesting movement through the room like a waterfall spilling over to another plane / surface. Dressing every item and surface in a room in the same pattern is for me an acquired taste and not my fav; it is certainly a great way to play down undesired odd things in a room though like a way too small window or an odd off-placed nook. And Homeland is storytelling and entertainment at its best!
ReplyDeleteI am shocked at myself when I say that I actually sort of love it. I think of those pics up there, I didn't like maybe 2 of them. Wow. I am sort of in awe LOL. I don't think I am brave enough to try it myself, but those are certainly well done!
ReplyDeleteI am totally smitten with this look!! It is way TOO hot for TV but I would love it in my home...convincing the Mr. might be kind of hard but I am good at bribery! haha It is a great way to make a bold statement!!
ReplyDelete8 days?! What?! How?? Haha! Love that powder pink room from House Beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteOk I am so freaked out that Xmas is a little over a week away!! I can't believe it. Anyway, I LOVE this look. I would die for my headboard or bedding to match the wallpaper!! I think it is so pretty!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteSome of these are great! I could just see myself-old and blind, not being able to find anything in my room:)
ReplyDeleteLove the look...but it is usually best pulled off with insanely- expensive fabric (unfortunately for the most of us ;))
ReplyDeleteI am def on board!! Love matchy match looks!
ReplyDeleteI think this is about to be a HUGE trend! I just got this set of decor "encyclopedias" from the 60's and this monochromatic style is ALL OVER the pages. I personally love it :)
ReplyDeleteI love the look but I am thinking it takes a lot of moola and oodles of expertise (none of which I have in copious amounts) to pull it off. that gingham situation with the gold frames - insane good! Jumped on the Homeland bandwagon myself b/c my uncle insisted it was not to be missed - how dare I be missing such good tv?! Great, just what I needed, another TV obsession...
ReplyDeleteAh, that picture with the purples and pinks...my favorite. I think this look is very bold. I like it sometimes if done tastefully, perhaps in a less dramatic print. I wouldn't want to go too crazy though, because before we know it, this trend will be out again!
