Monday Musings: What Up Dawg?

Hello my dearest of darlings. What was up this weekend? Were you productive? Did you party? Did you watch the Chiefs go to 4-0? I mean I am considering being a fan this year, really. You may think I sound like a fair weather fan, and you would be correct. You can only watch your home team lose so much. 

So we all are aware how much I love dogs. And not only do they run the show, they each have two sets of portraits painted of them in the house. I wish I were kidding. There is something so fun and yet stately about the painted pups. You know me, a little funk has to be added to each and every space and this is the perfect accessory to do so. Tell your dogs I said "you're welcome." Trust me. Respect.

Kansas City's Finest - Kirsten McGannon Art

Friday. Here we are! So I have decided to start a new series called Kansas City's finest. I am all about supporting local Kansas City talent (artists, designers, stylists alike) and would love to show the rest of you what this city has to offer. There is a huge artiststic and creative circuit in this city and I know y'all are dying to know what the hell we do here in the middle of the country. Let me give you a hint. It does not involve milking cows. I know. Chakakhan. Yes the lyrics should be rolling through your head now. Thank me later.

I recently came across the talent of Kirsten McGannon Fine Art who does amazingly colorful abstracts that I am DYING to incorporate into all of my spaces. Excessive? I think not. This lady is definitely not a one trick pony and has definite range with her pieces. Just look what she has shakin'.

The books are stacked

How jazzed are y'all that the weekend is upon us? Show of hands. So if you ask any of my current clients, they would tell you I am book obsessed and they probably would not be far off. Stacking books is always part of my repertoire and  I feel there is nothing more unique and interesting than stacking a load of bare spine books in any space. Really. It makes any average Joe/Jane appear smart (always a plus) and fascinating. Let's fool them. Stack it up y'all.

Client living room reveal

Hi lovelies! Today I am sharing another completed client space. When we first sought out for the design in this space, we were aiming for a colorful eclectic space where their family could hang out and kick it on the regular. Since this client has several daughters, and the husband is outnumbered, pink was a must. But folks, this is just another perfect example of pink being used in a space and its not overly feminine or fairy tale Barbie princess. Catch my drift? Anyway, this was another repeat client so don't fret, we will be seeing a WHOLE lot more from her in way of reveals. She has got it goin' on!

The Occasional Chair

What up y'all? If there is one thing I know in this world, it is that every room needs a statement or occasional chair. It just is what it is. The bolder the better in my opinion, which I am sure you are shocked about. Whether you have a traditional or eclectic space, a piece in a one of a kind of fabric gives the original look we all dream about. I have rounded up some of my faves that are so good that you would swear they were custom. Cross my heart.

Monday Musings: Monogrammed Bedding

Yellow my fine ladies. How was your weekend? Mine was full of working, shopping and play. Here in KC, we had the plaza art fair taking place this weekend which consists of lots of drinking and me pretending that I know what is up regarding fine art. Disclaimer: I don't. I like what I like. So something of interest for me on this fine Monday morning? I thought you would never ask. Monogram bedding, duh. How is there anything more lovely than crisp fine linens that are branded with your very own monogram? There is nothing. I can assure you. Just check out these major monograms happening, in bed.

If you follow me on Insta, you surely saw the image below that has monogram written all over it. Yeahhhhhh. This is the completed bedding of a client of mine. See, you can even make it a throw pillow, y'all.

Client Master Bedroom Reveal

Today I am sharing the finished product of one of client designs. I have to tell you, this particular client is one of my absolute favorites. You know those types where you have the same taste, and you just have a rhythm? Well, that is us. She is the co-owner of the stylish brand Tadpole and Lily. If you aren't acquainted, you need to be. She is amazing at execution and I am thrilled to have worked with her on other spaces in her house as well. Stay tuned on those reveals. We were going for a super glam and serene space for her and her husband to retreat to every evening. With a floral papered ceiling, plush fabrics and glam lighting, I am pretty sure I would love to rest my eyes here every night.

Monday Musings: Rorschach Ink Blots

Darlings! Did you have a tremendous weekend? Mine was spent getting ready for this hellashish week I have on the horizon. I will be running around 100 miles a minute for work and that will consist of late night entertaining each and every night. If my posts come a little tardy for the party this week, don't scold me. Please. I will make it happen though. You know I will! 

No, I am not trying to psychoanalyze you...or am I? I don't know what it is about Rorschach these ink blots, but they are rocking my face off in home decor. Maybe it is the versatility and because it can be used in traditional, modern or eclectic spaces. It adds the perfect amount of interest and can be interpreted in so many ways. Promise I will not dock you or begin to diagnose you with a mood disorder if you interpret in the wrong way. Cross my heart.
