Flavor of the week

Don't we all deserve a flavor of the week? Mine just happens to be in closet formation. Endless amounts of shoes. Glamour girl chandy. A rug that could kill. Yes and yes please. I will leave you with this to ponder for the day. Don't worry. It will cloud your every thought as it did for me.

Dress the Mantle

Ummm hello? Anyone here? I am happy to report that I am back in action. Hallelujah. Rejoice and be glad. I know I have missed the boat on helping you decorate your space for the holidays, shame on me. But I am making up for lost time and we are going to be doing a crash course on the holidays. Procrastination has ALWAYS been my forte, so why not pass it along to you love muffins?

So I have to tell you, my favorite part of holiday decor always happens to be the mantle. Why you ask? Can't tell you. You're not old enough. But seriously, I feel there are so many ways you can mix it up to make it your very own. Go super traditional with reds, greens, Christmas plaid and fresh greenery. Or funk it up with non traditional elements such as a monochromatic color scheme by layering books and other fitting items. Get your mantle on.

As you all know, I have champagne taste on a PBR budget. I mean why ever pay more? Target is my go to for holiday decor. A little of this, a little of that and next thing you know, your mantle is ready to roll.

Taking a breather

My loveliest of ladies. I know you all have been wondering where the hell I have been. Honestly? I needed to take 5. I have been burning both sides of the candle for some time now between balancing my career, my design business, my blog, traveling, renovating my house and managing a social life. Something had to give. I felt like I was going a million miles a minute with no relief. Ever. So for once, I have decided that taking a breather is in order. Do not fret. I will be back when I feel like blogging is not a chore. I was starting to feel like my posts were on auto pilot and the content was mediocre and stale. This break will mean having me come back fresh to death and better than ever. I will see you gals after the Thanksgiving Holiday. Love you. Mean it.

An Eclectic Autumnal Tablescape

Yellow my darlings. You know what I realized? I realized I have not directed you in the way of a tablescape in a very long hot minute. What has gotten into me? Of course I cannot do anything conventionally, it has to be a collected, pattern mixing and eclectic table. That is for certain. Bold prints, mixing metals...you name it, I am on it. Just look at these fabulously eclectic autumnal examples.

You feel me? Mix it up for a welcomed departure from the traditional Thanksgiving decor.

Fall: It is ALL about the brass

So I have to be real. As the fall season rolls around, I tend to scramble a bit because warm neutral colors do not EXACTLY fit into my bold lifestyle. My fix? It is ALL about the brass. Brass is a material that adds both glam and warmth to any space. To warm up my living area I added an agate accent table and some major brass accessories. I mean if implementing a piece with a natural material such as a jewel toned agate doesn't take you immediately to fall and nature, I don't know what will. Get your sass on with the brass on.

Monday Musings: A little of this, a little of that

Seriously ladies? Monday? I know I am supposed to be inspirational and pump you up for the week but I have to be real honest with you here. Mondays blow. Amirite? Lawd help us. So what I am digging this dark and cold Monday morning is a bright aesthetic centered around the most amazing piece of art I discovered from my girl Tobe. She talked about Emma Gale here and ever since then, I am totally obsessing over the unusual pieces. Need it. Love it. Want it. Whatchu think? I would die to walk in my home everyday to this little set up.

Get back to nature

So there is absolutely no denying it, fall is here. Booyah. I am talking neutrals, organic materials and the autumnal palette we all adore. To autumnize my space I look for natural materials such as stones, woods and furs that take you back to nature. They give that cozy and homey aesthetic that screams fall. Also on the list? Gold baby. Solid gold. Add a splash of brass to table setting or shelf and you have instant autumn glam. Do not forget the warm palette of orange, oxblood, ambers and teals. And voila! You have an enviable fall space. Get it.

Monday Musings: Convex Mirrors

Good morning my lovely ladies. I have missed you so. Sorry for the unexpected radio silence last week. I have a lot of stuff going on with my 9-5 and I needed a little break. Forgive? I have a feeling that today will resemble just another one of those manic Monday's, a la the Bangles.

So I will be honest. In just about every S+S design, I try to incorporate a mirror of some sort. Whether it be a focal point of the space or a space filler on a wall, I feel it is a necessary piece for any room. And let's be real, not only are they chic, but they provide function. We all know that all of my designs are about functionality. I know there is dead silence out there on this one. The particular mirror that I am currently feeling would be the convex. Ooooohhh and ahhhhh. Talk about a peculiar shape and reflection that results from these bad boys. Gone are the days that these are used strictly for security purposes. They are chic.
