This darling client of mine, hails from the UK and when she first told me what room she wanted me to design, she referred to it as a snug. To which I replied, "huh?" First and foremost, her house is beyond incredible. The floor plan, the architecture, the natural light...all of it. The layout is very unique but very functional. So when you walk into the living room (sitting room) there are pocket doors that you can enter into the snug area. It is basically a more relaxed family space where you can hang and watch TV. I totally dig the concept. I know many are all about open floor plans, but I am all about defined spaces. Sue me.
When we chatted about the direction she wanted the space to take, she kept referring back to a design that I had made for a previous client. One with a statement cocktail ottoman that included major fabric and contrast piping. From there, the space was born. I loved the idea of adding the new Schumacher Shanghai fabric in Peacock to blend with cocktail ottoman. Also necessary? Incredible art.
I agree, this is going to be good.Snugger up.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving everything about it! You sure get the best clients! I love defined spaces as well....and not one for open spaces....I love having a formal living room and then a family room for tv....have a lovely weekend!! Please wear your fringe skirt this weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'm on the same page with you there. I like to have actual rooms. The one exception is that I love it when a living room is open to the kitchen. Other than that, give me walls!
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with this whole use of the word 'snug'! Brilliant designs, my friend. Can't wait to see the final.
