You know that moment when you see another persons home and it literally takes your breath away? That is how I feel about Melaine from My Sweet Savannah. Her home is so open, fresh and cozy and I just want to spend the weekend there. Melaine? Am I invited? Melaine has this amazing talent to marry masculine and feminine spaces so well that you do not even realize. The girl has got it going on and is probably the sweetest girl ever. I'm a fan and you will be too!
First of all, I am so excited to be guest posting on Sadie and Stella~I feel like such a celebrity! Thank you for having me. Our home has really evolved over the course of the 14 years we have lived here. One thing you need to know about me is that I change things around, and I do it often! My husband always jokes with me that he is going to come home from work and trip over something because I am constantly rearranging!

Eventually I'd either like to have wall to wall seagrass installed in this room, or continue the same pine wood floors that our kitchen has. The carpet is there, and is the color that it is, because it hides dirt, and all the messes that come with having kids and dogs, and living on a lake!
My husband got the gigantic tv mounted over the fireplace and we framed old photos of the lake we live on from the early 1900's in inexpensive Ikea frames. I really like the impact the photo wall has for such a little amount of money. Another Ikea purchase was the sectional. It's a linen blend and machine washable and I love it! I change the pillows out often, {is there such thing as pillow hoarders?} and usually always have fresh flowers in this room. The chippy coffee table trunk was a $5 garage sale purchase that houses my collection of magazines. The leather chair was a craigslist score which my husband loves, and I have to admit, I love the mix of masculine and feminine in this room.
I want our house to have the informal comfy look where there is no need to take your shoes off and neighbor dogs can wander in and out through the open doors {which they do!} I think this room best describes how we live. We love our casual lake lifestyle where the kids fish and swim all day in the summers, and where guests can drop by for homemade cookies!
This is pure freshness. It just feels so comfortable and welcoming! And I'm so glad Lindsay has you on here today because I'm straight off to go check out your whole blog now!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful room! Love a neutral room!
ReplyDeleteSo welcoming and casually elegant! Love the pitch of the wood ceilings with the chandelier and open door. The
ReplyDeletewhite couches and all of the worn wood tables are wonderful as is the wall of B & W photos. Upscale rustic & beautiful!
Way before I started blogging, I followed Melaine. She introduced me to the color oatmeal. She has amazing energy and talent. Now, I need to take a look around here. How wonderful to find you!

ReplyDeleteI love Melaine's home!
ReplyDeleteYou're sweet to have featured her on your blog.....I found you from the link to your blog on her Facebook page!
Melaine is one of the people I discovered blogs through over three years ago, and her style is still one of my favourites of all time. Casual lake lifestyle, family friendly and stylish too.
ReplyDeleteThis room is so pretty ... comfy and beautiful!! I love the mix of textures!!
ReplyDeleteMelaines home is like a storybook in real life. So peaceful and romantic.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love Melaine's home every room is like opening a present at Christmas time....
ReplyDeleteThis is also one of my favorite rooms out there. I sooo love the slipcovers on the sectional. I just wish my husband did. He just won't do white - even though he knows that the white ones could get bleached - ugh! The rest of the room I sure can copy!!!

beautiful home....i miss our white slipcovered furniture...but with two black labs it became a maintenance issue...so i've had to go into the linen and darker colors....but i adore this serene white/neutral look!
ReplyDeleteso beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAre you happy with the Ikea sectional? I'm in the market for a slipcovered sectional, but I'm scared of Ikea furniture quality. It looks great in the photographs!
ReplyDeleteThis sofa is spacious, comfortable and very easy to assemble. My 6'3" husband is very thankful that the seat cushions are deep enough to support his legs.
ReplyDeleteNote that the length of the sofa side of the sectional is 119". The description only lists the length of the chaise side. For the money, I can't imagine a better sectional. I didn't see anything comparable in furniture stores in our town, especially at this price point.
It may not be the longest-lasting...time will tell, but I expect it will serve our family for quite a while. The color is true to the image online, and the waffle-weave texture to the fabric is soft and stands out from your typical smooth microfiber material.
Delivery was simple and we were called in advance to schedule a specific two-hour window. Everything arrived in perfect condition and with all the parts needed for assembly.
The only complaint is that our ottoman did not arrive with the sofa, but we have messaged the vendor and expect Amazon to stand behind the product. We have always had positive experiences with Amazon's customer service.
UPDATE: The marketplace seller, VisionDecor, stood behind their listing and sent us the ottoman. We had to wait a little while for shipping, but in the end, we have everything we were promised. Fantastic customer service!
LOVE this room! Can you share where you found the rug and the console behind the couch?
ReplyDeleteWere did the lamps come from?
ReplyDeleteDitto question...where are those gorgeous lamps from?
