S+S chow: Beer Cheese Fondue

It is here! It is finally here! A. Three. Day. Weekend! We have some unbelievable 0 calorie beer cheese fondue to share with you this morning. Ok. I am lying. So it is not 0 calorie...but it is unbelievable!

Once upon a time, there lived a brewery. This brewery had average food at best, but there was one thing that they got right. Beer Cheese Fondue. Now, this is not just your average fondue, folks.  They served this beer cheese fondue with none other than pretzels. That's right. Pretzels. They also served these pretzels with cinnamon and sugar butter. I know you all are on flavor overload right now, but this is all true. This is Stella and Billie's Dad's absolute favorite. So...it was made. We made it for his soiree and it was such a hit, we wanted to share it all with our lovely readers. If anyone is interested in the recipe for the ah-mazing cinnamon butter, let us know!

Beer Cheese Fondue

Ingredients

  • 1 sack, 10 ounces, 2 1/2 cups, shredded sharp Cheddar, available on dairy aisle
  • 1/4 to 1/3 pound, 4 to 6 ounces, Gruyere, shredded
  • 1 rounded tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup German lager beer
  • 2 tablespoons spicy brown mustard
  • A few drops hot sauce
  • A few drops Worcestershire sauce

Directions

Combine cheeses in a bowl with flour. Add beer to a small pot and bring up to a bubble over medium heat. Reduce the heat to simmer and add cheese in handfuls. Stir constantly, melting the cheese in batches. Stir in a figure-eight pattern with wooden spoon. When the cheese has been incorporated fully, stir in the mustard, hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Transfer fondue to warm fondue pot.
Serve with bread, pretzels, cinnamon butter...whatever your heart desires!
Have a fantastic weekend lovelies! We have some exciting news to share with you next week. Stay. tuned.
