S+S at home: guest room updates

Yesterday we guest posted over at Living Saavy, talking about spray painting a headboard for Lindsay's {Sadie's mom} guest bedroom. Today we wanted to tell ya a little more about the space. It is by no means done, we still need art for the walls, drapes and a dresser but it's heading in the right direction!
If you read our guest post you'll know this room was done on a serious budget and in a VERY short amount of time, we're talking a week people! We had company coming and the state of the room was unacceptable, it was more of a collection pile for laundry and junk than a room. Please don't judge!
I hit the jackpot and found the headboard at a local Goodwill for $40 one Saturday, ordered a few cans on Krylon's Coral Isle...
...and voila!! The headboard had a whole new look. I decided to move the bed to the opposite wall to open the room up a bit. As I said, I am still on the hunt for the perfect dresser to place on the wall opposite to the bed. I originally was thinking about purchasing all new bedding, but it wasn't in the stars, or budget I should say. I stuck with what I had but added a few linen accessories. The gray euro shams were a steal, $10 a piece at West Elm and the coral stripe throw pillow was only $18 at one of our local boutiques! The green chevron throw was on sale at Land's End and I only paid $30 with free shipping.
Next, I needed a bedside table. This was a tricky one folks! Deciding on a color was difficult. I found the milk glass lamp first and knew it would be perfect in the space! I actually found it at the fab Mrs. DeVore's booth in Concord! When I spied this charcoal table it was love at first sight! I love how the gray ties in with the gray in the shams and the subtle hints of it in the duvet.
I picked up a few free accessories from around the house and the room was ready for some guests! It still needs some sprucing but for a grand total of $210 for everything I am LOVING the results!
It's amazing what you can do on a small budget with a little searching and a can of spray paint. Hope you have a fabulous Thursday readers!

  8. I love that bed. The coral color is perfect. My mom has a bed like that she painted black. I think she needs to reconsider and do a fun color like you did!

  9. Awesome! I'm currently working on our guest room too. I've been going back and forth on spray painting our rod iron bed in there. I've decided to wait until the whole room comes together, but this post makes me want to spray it right now! :)
