Don't we all have some scarves that have been handed down through the family? You know, a silk square scarf that maybe your grandmama wore to adorn her neck but you hesitate to wear it in the same manner in fear of looking like a flight attendant. Surely you all know what I am talking about. Honestly, I adore silk scarves. I think the texture, colors and pattern are absolutely beautiful. While I do not wish to wear them around my neck and have people mistake me for being French, I do wish to frame them and hang them as art. Seriously. Do it and you will never turn back. I guarantee your visitors of your house will be absolutely envious of your unique piece of artwork. Little do they know your grandmama used to wear it around her neck to hide skin imperfections.
Like, how much do we love? I think we all need some scarves of our own to adorn our walls.
I started collecting vintage Vera scarves and I have framed one. It falls into the "groovy" category if you know what I mean. I don't tie them around my neck but the unframed ones sometimes make it onto a neutral purse handle if it matches my outfit.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this look- had a few scarves saved on Etsy that I wanted to buy and frame but alas, someone beat me to the punch:(
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of turning some old Hermes pieces into massive silk pillows. But I love the framing idea! They really are gorgeous works of art!
ReplyDelete100% yes...I am not sure it gets any more gorgeous than a framed scarf! I have a Hermes scarf that was a gift and I can't decide whether to wear it around my neck or frame it?! Ahhh life decisions!! Love all your picks!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! Definitely my next project...

ReplyDeleteSuch a good idea! I'm with you, not going to be tied around my neck, but as art I'm all about it!
ReplyDeleteI have totes wanted to find the perfect scarf to display as art in my home for a while now! A store called Johnny Was out in California has an awesome scarf display I have been drooling over. Thanks for the sweet comment on my Favourite Furniture Fridays post! Love reading your blog.

I have an Hermes that I take out, attempt to wear, then put back every time. It's such a beautiful piece of art that I feel guilty for leaving it in the box.
ReplyDeleteLove this! I snatched up a great napkin from anthro when it was on sale to frame it in a frames frame. kicking myself that I didn't get more!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this idea. I don't wear them around my neck either. I've tried, but always feel weird and take it off!

ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea! Thanks for sharing. My cousin got all my Gramma's scarves when she passed away, I should see if she still has any she's not using!

Love this. Planning to do it with a Chanel scarf my granddaddy brought back from Paris years ago.
ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant! I have sooo many of my grandmother's gorgeous scarves that I don't wear. Fab thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love scarves! And honestly I have many scarves in my closet :)
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of framed a beautiful scarf I have or to make a cushion cover with it but your post finally convinced me to put it on my wall!
Have a great weekend!

Love this idea. Would you believe I have a whole big plastic container filled with my grandmothers old scarves. I need to go thru that shiz and frame some. Love the one framed in the arcylic frame. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI think its a great idea. My sister in law collects Hermes scarves and actually has framed several for her office, they look great and are like works of art.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. I have also framed a delicate hand-embroidered tablecloth. It was a small square so it would never fit on my table and it was a work of art that deserved to be seen. It was large enough to go above a queen size bed and I have had it for almost 20 years and used it in a variety of places.
ReplyDeleteI love love love this! Going to hunt for some great frames for all of my funky vintage scarf finds!

ReplyDeleteI’m impressed, I must say. Really rarely do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the issue is something that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this.
