Doesn't it sound so official? Almost like a government agency, "painting on the interior." Maybe it is just the word "interior"? How is a girl to know. Did you all have a larvely weekend? I certainly hope so. Did you all watch the Globes last night? Am I the only person in America that fails to give a crap about award shows? I feel alone in this. My weekend was spent pining away for you all and for new furniture. I am doing a "sell, sell, sell" situation with a lot of my furniture and I have my eye on some seriously bold pieces. I am certain you can guess what one piece will be. Clueless? How about one with painting on the interior? Oooohhh and ahhhhh.
I have to say, two toned cabinets with a darker exterior finish and a bold hue on the interior has to be my number one favorite decor trend right this minute. That says a lot. Take a once boring pine, yes I said it, cabinet and give it new life with a contrasting exterior and interior paint job. Make it custom. Pretend Xhibit from the old show "Pimp My Ride" is at your house and it now applies to your furniture. Seriously. You will thank me and him.
Ok. So tell me you are not smitten. Just try. I thought this would be a great time to practice what I preach and show you some examples in the flesh. I have found pieces from Craigslist all over the country (Richmond, Dallas, Chicago, Raleigh) that are available for one of you glamazons to snatch up and refinish. Hell, I even gave you the most suitable color combinations for the piece. Someone buy these pieces! Someone. Anyone.
Richmond-Cabinet Exterior:Spring Thaw Interior:Fiesta Orange
Dallas-Cabinet Exterior: Gibraltar Cliffs Interior: Tricycle Red
Chicago-Cabinet Exterior: Universal Black Interior: St. Patty's Day
Raleigh-Highboy Cabinet Exterior: Gary Lake Interior: Paradise Pink
I LOVE the painting on the interior. It is heaven. I have been wishing for space for a china cabinet...it will have to wait until I have a house!
ReplyDeleteOf course I love this idea because I just painted the inside of our hutch urbane bronze. Love the black and white combo and what great finds. I need you to do a Charleston search!
ReplyDeleteLove his idea! Doing this to my new cabinet (Craigslist find) that's going in my dining room/home office transformation. Ps- I don't give a crap about any of the awards shows! We must be missing that gene!
ReplyDeletePainting on the Interior is what I am all about right now!! How did you ever know? Just pinned practically all of them!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to do this for some time now, guess I better get on it.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I were just talking about awards shows and wondering who watches them because we could care less. You are not alone.
I'm with you on the award...I do like seeing what people wear...so I guess I'm just a red carpet kind of a girl. Lovely picks...my fave is in Richmond...snag it!
ReplyDeleteI am working on a 12 foot break front that was passed down to me. I've painted the outside a light gray and the interior pink. I can't wait to finish this!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGirl, I was just planning a combo myself. I want to do a dark charcoal on the outside, and use the coral that I have for the inside. Can you look on CL in New Jersey? I know, why would anyone want to hunt in NJ?
ReplyDeleteYou are not the only one! I love the pre show where they show the dresses and that is it. I don't even watch the actual awards. Love the colors you chose for Chicago!
ReplyDeleteGreat post Linds. I love that piece in Chicago. I love dual painted bookcases and such. Have a great week.

Great minds think alike as I found a piece this weekend that I want to do this very thing to. Now to decide on colors...and find the extra funds.
ReplyDeleteI love shelves painted on the interior too. Love contrasts. I have mine tealish on the inside of white exterior. Happy painting.
ReplyDeleteI love these looks every time I see them! Really need to remember this the next time I'm painting!
