S+S chow: carne asada tacos

Happy Cinco de Mayo!! This is hands down the best steak taco recipe. We are not kidding folks. This beats a Taco Bell chalupa any day of the week. This has made it on my list as a go to and is probably made about once a week. What can I say? It is always Cinco de Mayo in my house!

Enjoy this scrumptious recipe and celebrate!

Carne Asada

  • 2 lbs flank steaks or 2 lbs round steaks
  • 1/3 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • fresh ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons finely ground Mexican oregano (optional)

Marinate for about 30 mins and grill.

Adobo Sauce
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 chipotle chiles in adobo, diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 lime, juice of
Combine all together.
*We mixed about 3/4 cup of chopped cabbage with some of the sauce to create a tasty slaw, delish.

Thinly slice the steak and serve on tortillas {we used corn}. Top with whatever you'd like, we suggest: cheese, avocado, fresh pico, adobo sauce {or slaw} and french fried onions. Best enjoyed with a margarita!
