Favorite Room Feature: Green Room Interiors

Lovely, lovely ladies. Today I am sharing a super talented and extremely lovely interior designer from the South. My kind of lady. How about the accomplished Kim Lemmon from Green Room Interiors. In addition to Kim being a breathtaking and enviable designer, she runs a store in good ole Chattanooga, TN. For those of you who have not frequented Chattanooga, TN, I suggest you do so. Fabulous little city with a whole lot of charm. I might double back there now that I have a reason to shop. You will love Kim's aesthetic. Cross my heart.

Hello Sadie & Stella readers!  I'm Kim Lemmon, from Green Room Interiors and I'm so very excited to be participating in Lindsay's Favorite Room series.
My favorite room is my family room, and I have to say that I'm very pleased with how it turned out.  This is actually how it started out. A blank canvas.

Seriously. My  home was built in 1972 and has absolutely zero architectural interest.  No crown molding, no built-in bookcases - not even a mantel!  For those of you that live in spaces like the one I've just described, take heart!  It's really all about decorating and creating interest through your furnishings and fabrics.

For instance, since I had no fireplace ( which normally serves as room's focal point), I created my own focal point - around my TV!

It's a focal point that has a job. And it provides a little interest to this featureless room.

Did I mention that my family room is also very long and very narrow?  The shape of my room allowed for another "zone" that could be dedicated to an entirely different function.
And so my makeshift library was created by having a table skirt made from a favorite fabric find, flanking the table with seating and piling on some books.

Here's a better shot of how the room is set up.

And finally, I decided to make the most of a big empty wall and do what I've been dreaming of for years - covering it with art!

And, even though I never dreamed I'd be saying this when we bought the house a few years ago, this is my favorite room!!!

Thank you Lindsay, for inviting me over to share my favorite room!!!
