pillow talk

Who doesn't love a little pillow talk? No! Not that kind of pillow talk. Actual talk of actual pillows. Exactly! There is no rhyme. There is no reason as to why we love all of these pillows. We just do. All shapes, sizes, colors, textures, prices. This is not like a bag of Starbursts where you pick out only the pinks and oranges, in my case, to eat. No, we want them all. We are so greedy.

monday musings: put a subtle prep in your step

I have to say, for the past few days I have been the walking dead. Truthfully. I had the stomach flu and it was absolute misery. Between battling that for days and working to solve world hunger, I have been a busy lady. Naturally. To celebrate me beating death, I am totally into sharing classy, fresh, clean and preppy spaces today. There are so many elements that can be incorporated into making a space "preppy". Classic fabric patterns (seersucker, plaids, stripes), regal touches, a handsome color palette and the perfect (equestrian or nautical) accessories. Let's put a little prep, in your (and my) step.

This closet is classic to the core. The chrome hanging pendant is almost more than my weak body can take at this point. It is obviously the focal point of the space, and the eye is immediately drawn to it. You all know I cannot resist a blackcented room. Notice all of the preppy themes happening here. We have some nautical memorabilia affixed on the wall, as well as, an equestrian piece holding down focal cabinet unit. The simple color scheme, regal touches, and use of details on the wall cabinetry are all prep winners for me.
Such a refined and classic space. Whoever said a neutral color palette is boring? Those people are idiots. The seersucker bed and settee are definitely the center of this serene preppy bedroom. It is a classic fabric and it is nothing short of lovely.
Ahhh an equestrian chic, preppy space. Such rustic and vintage elements seen here. Again, another semi neutral color palette with splashes of bold color. See all of the horsey accessorizing here? Someone was horsing around. This is nook takes me to an amazing home in the Hamptons. Quintessential prep.
The queen of prep has arrived. None other than, Kate Spade. Girl has nailed prep like none other, but has added a little stylized twist. What makes this space so preppy are the beyond regal touches as well as the simple and classic patterns used. Hello striped walls. Adore.
Another fabulously eclectic space with a subtlety of prep. The bedding alone sets this room into the category of prep. Vintage touches paired with classic hues. Major win.
Fabulous. Fabulous. How I would have loved to be nursed back to health in this room. Although the sunlight may have made me melt as I was doubling as a vampire last week. Adore the striped seating in this space. Simple yet elegant. Those suspended photographs are so unusual and I absolutely love them. They add a vintage flair that the room definitely needs. How about this for your sunroom? Jelly.
Hello preppy bathroom. Classic. Refined. Classic. Classic. Did I say classic? The linens in this space are beyond fabulous. They are have such a crisp and luxurious appearance. Again, simple elements = big impact. Simple math.
A lovely and adorable preppish room fit for a kid. How perfect is this space? Simple patterns and color scheme, mixed all together to become the perfect space. Loving that little touch of flair the zebra pillow brings. This conservative designer was delicately venturing into the wild side. So delicately.

S+S chow: fit for a leprechaun

Good morning! How are you all this lovely spring morning? We hope well! On the eve of St. Patty's day we thought it only fitting to post a meal fit for a leprechaun. This corned beef and cabbage soup fits the bill. It's St. Patty's day perfection in a soup and it will definitely be happening at my house tomorrow.
Top the meal off with this stunning rainbow layer cake and you will find a pot of gold in no time! Seriously, how gorg are those colors?? Is it acceptable to enjoy cake for breakfast?
We hope you have a fabulous weekend filled with all things Irish!
Love, L+L

Favorite Room Feature: Look Linger Love

It is honestly criminal that we have to work today in NC. Temperatures are in the 80's and I should be working on my tan. Serious. Instead, we have the beyond adorable Chassity from Look Linger Love with us today. You guessed it, sharing her favorite space. Wait for it...her dining room. Taaaa-daaaa. Wait until you see it. It is catalog worthy. Can't wait for you to drool like we did. You're up Chassity!

Hi Everyone!  Chassity here from Look Linger Love.  I'm honored by the invitation to share my favorite room today. It was actually a hard choice because I love so much of my home (and I can't believe that we just started a new renovation and will be moving this summer!).  But in the end I decided to go with my dining room, here she is, in all of her glory.

Of course, like most dining rooms, it doesn't get nearly enough use.  But I still love looking in when I walk past.

Thank you so much for being with us today Chassity. We cannot think of a better way we'd like to spend the day indoors. Loves! L+L

where we are hanging...

Today we are hanging out over at the hysterical and fabulous Barbara's blog, The Treasured Home. We are sharing some interesting facts about ourselves that you more than likely do not know. Check it out here, loves. Show Barbara some love!

what we are loving: not your grandma's average floral

We are in the throws of Spring and I feel beyond inspired by bright, punchy, funky dunky florals. I know what you are thinking. "Florals?!?!? My grandma adores florals." Well yeah. So do I. So your grandma must be really cool. But I can guarantee you these florals won't emit the appearance that your grandma's quilt room threw up on them. For serious.

1. Who would not love a spot of tea out of this blown up floral pattern teacup? I believe I do spot some emerald green in there. Add a little brass to that baby, which was done, and your tea is stylin'.

2. You will never believe this, but this is a graphic designers creation of wallpaper. She is brilliant. I believe I need to employ her. Girl has got moves.
3. Ok, so I have to admit, turquoise paired with rich shades of pink might be one of my favorite color combinations. Applying that theory, and the fact that peonies are my favorite flowers, this peonies fabric might just be one of my favorite fabrics. Ever. Science, peeps.
4. Who doesn't love a fretwork chippendale chair? Duh. Paired with a lovely floral print seat, we are in business here.
5. ADORABLE! This personalized stationary is just the start of fabulous things from this company. This girl seen here on the stationary, is clad in a fabulous floral party dress. It is all about the theme. Loving this set and needing it. NOW.
6. Love the neon lilac color contrast with the rusts in this tea towel. Funky floral patterns are a must in the kitchen.
7. This pillow is bananas. Truly. The oversized, jewel tone pattern is unbeatable. Not to mention it is adorned with pink and white piping. Not your Grandma's average florals. Boom.
8. Again, another funky dunky floral pillow. This peacocks and petals pillow would be perfect displayed on any sofa to add spunk and interest.
9. The mother-load here, folks. This sofa is nutso. I need it now. Not sure how I am going to get it. But I need it.
10. A piece from the ever talented Lulie Wallace. I could find MANY homes in my home for this unique floral art installment. Stella loves it. She said it is a must and she gives it 5 paws. She is so chic.
11. This floral print dress was a must in my closet. Signed, sealed, delivered. This screams Spring basic to me. So I made it happen.

monday musings: geniuses and leprechauns pick green interiors

Is anyone as crab-tastic as I am today? Why, oh why, do I not reside in a state that rejects Daylight Savings? It seems as though each year that passes, I forget how painful the first two days of adjusting really are. I feel like a vicious teenage girl that is lacking sleep. Sigh. Can we talk about pretty rooms? Maybe that will make me more joyous. Not likely, but it is worth a shot.

So I told you. Geniuses pick green. For those of you who have seen Meet the Parents, you know what I am talking about. But also, its true. Green has always been my favorite color. And I am a genius. Hypothesis proven. Any hue of green, really. So we are in the month of March and are so quickly approaching St. Patrick's Day. This definitely puts me in the mood, and appropriately so, for all things emerald and kelly green.

Drahhhh-maaa! Please tell me you love this as much as I do. Please. This is such a perfectly collected, eclectic space. I love how Miles Redd, yes THE Miles Redd, included pieces with such interest and allure. Who else is digging that yellow tufted chair? Hmmmm.
Same fabulous room at a different angle. That tone on tone artwork is brilliant. I told you geniuses, and leprechauns, pick green. No brainer. That orange velvet bed is luxury. Total glamazon.
{lonny}
This room and I DEFINITELY have something going on. The detailing on those windows?! Are you serious? Larve. So the green tufted sofa is definitely the most. So dreamy. So plush. So green. Somebody of significance lives here and I need to be their friend.
{pinterest}
So lovely. Those floor length kelly green drapes, paired with the greenish-gray walls is beyond perfect. Who would have thought? Very bold and saucy move, but with a big reward. Style. That beaded chandelier is also something to look at. Such simple elements are used here and yet there is huge impact.
{veranda}
Can we say ornate? Can we say opulent? Look at that chandy girls! Totally looks 70's/futuristic. I am thinking Sputnik. Honestly, one might think this room is on green overload. That one would be incorrect. Loving all of the green velvet pieces in one room.
{pinterest}
An hallway with such beauty! Again, more green, tufted, velvet seating. No one can ever have too much of that. Never. Such a classically styled chair paired with funky mercury looking concave art fixtures. Totally unique.
Told you. More green, tufted, velvet seating. Get out. Hold the phone here. Anyone spot a TV in this space? I would love to know how one watches their favorite guilty pleasures (ahem Real Housewives) with that hideous plant obscuring the view? Ladies, that is an example of non functional design. I am just keeping it real. Other than that, darling.
{lonny}
I love the look of this space. It totally has the Spanish architecture vibe. Not only that, I am not sure where this house is located, but I picture it to be in Southern Cali. More tufting. More green. More velvet. I adore that sheep that resides in this room. I am not sure what he is doing there, but he is presh.
{rue}
Yowza! Green lacquered walls! Bold. Bold and the beautiful. I could live without that dog statue, but compromises, people. Compromises. .
{huffington post}
Hello classic Ralph Lauren. They really know how to style and profile. That is for certain. I find myself wanting to enter into the world of each ad they place. Equestrian? Why not? Love the green. Love the green.

Lovers. Try and stay alert and awake today. That is my greatest of challenges. We will support one another. Have a fabulous day! Love, L+L

S+S Design: eclectic entry

Do you remember the understated glam dining room we shared with you a few weeks ago? We told you that it was only part one of a four part series. Today dolls, we are onto part deux and we couldn't be more thrilled to share! We love, love, love how everything came together. The playful mix of rustic and glam is our absolute fave. This design is for our client's entry. We wanted to make sure it set the tone for the rest of home, we are sure that it will make a statement.
The first thing you will notice is the fabulous settee that is included in this area. Our client spotted this and it served as a source of inspiration for the space. We are smitten with it! We have also added an interesting console table for an inset nook in the space. Also seen in that little nook area, is an art piece that is intended to bring in color and dimension. It is the perfect pop to pull the colors from the settee into the space. We selected rustic, wooden beaded sconces to flank this art. They bring depth and definite interest. Last but not least, the cowhide rug. It is already a part of our client's space and we love it, it must stay!
On to Board 2! This board covers the seating area that you immediately spot upon entering our client's home. We chose matching rustic burlap, nailhead chairs to set the space. We absolutely love the neutral colors for the space. To jazz the chairs up a bit, we included some fab throw pillows. You will also find a pedestal table that we envision holding books and obvious accessories to give the place meaning. Let us know what you think! We always love hearing from you! Have a fabulous Thursday, we are almost to the weekend!!

For any of you interested in our design services and are looking to get additional information, email us at sadieandstella@gmail.com. We do not give sourcing information  for our design boards because they are unique to our clients. But we would love to help you all out with your spaces!
