Good morning loves! How was your weekend? I have to tell you, I missed you like crazy. Cray-zay. I am sure the feeling is mutual. So today I am discussing our beloved fireplaces. Or mantels if you will, and I will. I honestly think people feel that mantels are one of the most difficult areas to adorn in their home and I can see why one would feel that way. It is a focal point of the space and the dimension is somewhat challenging. My best words of advice? Whatever you do, keep it unique. Vary the scale, use odd numbers and stack. There is my two cents. Take it or take it.

Kansas City's Finest: Barbara Cosgrove Lamps
Can you believe it is already time for another Kansas City's Finest? My, my, my where do the weeks go? So today I am sharing a local lamp talent that I happen to know and love personally, Barbara Cosgrove Lamps. So when I first moved here and started my day time job as an insurance broker, I came across a girl I work with who found out I had a design business on the side. She mentioned her mom made lamps etc and the cynic in me was thinking "yeah, yeah, yeah." I was like "who is your mom?" And she is like "Barbara Cosgrove." Insert mouth gaping open on my end. Followed by me saying "so your mom is famous?" She was gracious enough to take me to her mom's warehouse and introduce me to the entire team plus tour the offices and the site. Can I just say, it is more amazing than anything you could ever imagine.

When it comes to lamps, Barbara knows her stuff. Each and every piece is more unique than the next and I have to say, I jones to put her pieces in each and every install I do. I am so proud to have such vision and talent within my city limits. Just check out all of the amazing stuff she is doing.

The Pursuit of Style on Glitter Guide
So did anyone see my girl Lindsay from The Pursuit of Style on Glitter Guide yesterday? Holy. Moly. I mean I knew the girl had style but her place literally knocked my socks off. Lindsay loves color, just like me. Must be something in the name. Just. Sayin'. She is not afraid to mix bold colors and even more bold patterns. Just look at her bedroom. I die.
That chair. That desk. Who else is picking themselves up off of the floor? My thoughts exactly.
On to the living room. I am a huge fan of having one leopard accent in a space. That pillow is THE most.
A hot pink tufted barrel chair? I think yes. Very much so.
Her bold striped entryway absolutely slays me. I have actually featured this hallway on S+S before, believe it or not. Loving the items she has added since then.
And last but certainly not least, a well stocked bar. Which equates to a happy home in this book of mine.
Is the girls house not to die for? I mean seriously.

An Eclectic Client Design
What up ladies? I am sharing one of my most recent client designs with y'all this morning. This one hails from deep in the heart of Texas from an already beautiful home. These peeps have impeccable taste and it is really just blending some pieces they already have with some new to them pieces to create a functional and eclectic living space.
They already had a lot of neutrals, so to balance that I was all about adding pops of color to super transitional pieces. Call it leopard or call it blue velvet, but this place is going to kill it. Design wise that is. I love the Mid-century modern pieces mixed with the glam AND the natural natural elements. It is truly an eclectic design and I cannot wait to see it come to life.

Monday Musings: Symmetrical Style
What up y'all? Did you have a fabulous weekend? I hope so. Let's get right to it. So today I am discussing something very atypical to my style. Symmetry. Why is it atypical? Well I usually am on board with asymmetrical designs as I find it makes spaces more unique and eclectic. Well this is 'Merica and I can change my mind on a dime if I please. I am now exercising that right. I am totally digging symmetry. Symmetry doesn't have to be boring or common. With the right background, accessories and lighting; you can totally get that one of a kind, out of a magazine look. Trust.
So you know me, I like to practice what I preach. Here is a perfect example of symmetry in a space. Get the look.

Kansas City's Finest: Meg Biram
So today's talent of Kansas City's Finest does not necessarily live here, but she is from KC. So it counts, yo. Meg Biram is kind of a master of everything in the PR/Blog/Design/Branding world and recently opened her own online shop with all things Meg. I first came across Meg's Photography and was beyond smitten with her work and even more with the price. I will take two of everything. Please and thank you.
Are those photos the jam or what? She is beyond brilliance. That Kennedy Center piece will be mine. Get yourself one, two or all of them. You won't be mad. Meg is just another Kansas Citian kicking ass and taking names. xoxo

Falling into Fall
Hello my darlings. Fall is upon us, and I am choosing to ignore th 80+ degree temperatures here in Missou-rah. What does that mean for you? Fall decor for the home. It is actually quite easy to add an element of autumn to your house on the cheap. A spiced candle, some gold, some fur and possibly some animal inspired accoutrements. Fall means me wrapped up in a fur blankie in front of the fire. Only thing missing from that picture? Me being able to figure out how to light a fire in my fireplace. Need to get on that. Let's fall into fall. Shall we?
