Richmond Symphony Designer House

Last week, my girl Erin and I decided to bear the one way, volunteer directed traffic (aka traffic pattern disaster) and check out to the Richmond Symphony Designer House. For those of you who have no idea what the hell I am talking about, the Richmond Symphony Orchestra League selects a location annually to hold this event and designers from all over the country will bid on the spaces to house their overall design. This year, the home is Pinifer Park which is a Queen Anne style home dating back to 1910. Let me just say, not sure what it looked like before, but after each designer put their spin on things, the end result was todiefor. One word.
The great room/foyer area was designed by Jennifer Stoner Interiors. Have to tell you, the light fixture she had crafted for the space, was unbelievable. The perfect mixture of whimsy and mystere juxtaposed by the industrial finishings.
Her credenza/bar area she assembled. I see my favorite. Bombay. Erin and I were absolutely smitten with the orange cow hair tray. Swear. We wouldn't lie to you. Maybe not so conducive to spills and butterfingers. Probably not the tray for me. Moving on.
Ok. I have to display our absolute favorite room in the middle. Not the beginning or the big finale, the middle. This room designed by Ruth and Ollie was truly a Hollywood Regency glamour chic paradise. Every finishing was thought of and implemented. From the greek key trim ceilings, to the intricately stoned table, not a beat was missed. I mean how could you not be instantly happy after walking into this space? I mean I am now and I am just recapping here.
Close up of that major table I spoke of. And the leopard chippendale chairs?!?! Someone is trying to make me lose my mind here. The highback nailhead chairs were the perfect touch to flank the ends of this table.
Some action shots. Don't we love that guy's stance on the right hand side? I mean he is really into it. But in all seriousness, this settee is and was fabulous. Perfect greek key adornment spread all about.
See the little greek key trim in the coffered ceilings? The ultimate. Ok. Big prize to anyone who can tell me what those flowers are in the Jonathan Adler face vase. Anyone? I need them in my life.
Ok. On to my second favorite space, designed by my favorite store in Richmond, Williams & Sherrill. I wish I was able to get more pictures of this space, but with being herded like cattle and Erin and I constantly getting shushed from PTA moms, I was really walking on thin ice here. Just ask Erin. This was the perfect blend of earthy tones and elements with high style and glamorous pieces. For one, we were totally smitten with the crest mounted antlers, and apparently so were these women (see image). I also adored their fish scale lantern in the far left corner of the image. It was just such a cool, relaxed and eclectic space.
David Barden designed this space that Erin and I deemed as a man's den (I refuse to use the term man c$v!). The perfectly grassclothed walls were finished off with Burberry plaid ceiling to floor curtain panels. I mean honestly, I might become butch just to hang out in this space. The industrial light fixture is the perfect contrast in the classically designed room. Black lacquer fireplace? You bet. Does anyone notice the pictures are hung on suspended chains on the wall? I thought this was such a cool and masculine touch for the artwork. Very thoughtful and effective. The room was also accessorized with Asian inspired pieces ie red foo dogs, Asian cabinet and Chinese plants. You know I have a thing for Asian interiors.
Again. David Barden working his magic in this bar/lounge area extended from the den. The red walls were the absolute perfect segway from the other space. I am not one for surfing, but I might be able to get on "board" in order to display these bad boys in a space.
And to one of the most dramatic spaces in the entire house. The staircase. No lie. Does this look like natural stone to you all? Well surprise. It is not. This back hallway was designed by Susan Jamieson at Bridget Beari Designs and I could not have been more moved or obsessed by it if I tried. The glam effect with the walls and that chandelier are enough to make a girl lose her balance in a stairwell. Lawd.
 Again. Close up. I die.
So there you have it. All of the designers made this house a home in their very own style and very own way. I felt lucky to be able to see all of their work and finished products on display, on display on display. Thank you Melissa Gorga. Loves!

  9. seriously, the whole house was amazing. i loved the stairwell, and the glass...genius! i especially loved how Jennifer Stoner tied in the "hunting lodge" theme with that amazing fabric that wasn't the least bit "hunt-y." and sunny goode never disappoints.
